Tony, a 27-year-old accountant from Leeds, saw a video about a cool AI tool.

It showed how he can code a complex app without knowing how to code. He immediately got excited because he had this idea about creating a platform to streamline accounting for businesses since he was in university, but never had the capital to start.

After going through the comments of the video, he found out that quite a few people have recently been successful with vibecoding apps.

Tony would’ve had to hire and pay a high-skilled team for at least a couple of years, before his project could’ve started cashing in.

Now it could be achieved in a month, after spending just $5000.

He then started googling to get more feedback on Reddit, only to find more proof that it works. What do you think happened next?

Now, let’s talk a bit about Sam, an experienced web developer in his mid-30s, who used to travel abroad a lot with his wife and daughter, up until last year.

He forgot most of what happened during the 3 seasons of Black Mirror he watched a decade ago, but he always has his coffee while going through TechCrunch titles, so he’s never missed any of the stories about AI-related layoffs.

Two years ago he bought land in the countryside, and was planning to start building a house and small farm in the summer of 2026, when he’d saved enough money.

Because he became obsessed with predicting the future, he listened to all the podcasts about the future with AI.

And recently, he’s seeing more and more screenshots and information from layoffs.fyi on Twitter.

What do you reckon he’s going to do this summer?

Tony and Sam live in the same world but get very different signals. They’re both reacting to what they’ve been feeding their mind…
